Germanicus, like his father Drusus, was a Roman commander in Germania, tasked with regaining his father's conquests lost to Arminius following the battle of the Teutoberg Forest. Like most Julio-Claudians, he is related to all Julio-Claudian Emperors - he was the step-grandson of Augustus, nephew of Tiberius, father of Caligula, brother of Claudius and grandfather of Nero. He was particularly popular with the army and people, which made him a potential threat - sent away from his troops in Germania, he died at Antioch in AD 10. |
