Leontios was a Byzantine general who took power in a coup against Justinian II in 695. He was himself deposed and mutilated in the coup of Tiberios III in 698, following a failed assault to reclaim Cathage. He spent Tiberios III's reign in a monastery before a returning Justinian II had both Leontios and Tiberios executed in 706. |
