Kai Khusrau II became sultan during the Mongol invasions in Anatolia. He treated with the Georgians, erstwhile allies of the Mongols, and married the Georgian princess Tamar. Legendarily his coins contained an image of a lion beneath a sun as a reference to Tamar's zodiac sun sign, Leo. |
