Valkash became Shahanshah of the Sasanian Empire after the defeat and death of his brother, Peroz I, at the hands of the Hephthelites in 484. His reign was marked by revolts, most notably the Armenian separatist revolt under Vahan Mamikonian, and was ultimately overthrown, in 488, by Kavad I, a son of Peroz I. |
