Nepotian was a nephew of Constantine I through his mother, Eutropia, half-sister of Constantine. He declared himself emperor in Rome in 350 in opposition to Magnentius, in turn the usurper and killer of Nepotian's cousin, Constans I. He was killed in a fight with Megnentius's supporters 28 days later.
