Constantius Gallus, along with his brother, Julian, was one of the only members of the Constantinian dynasty to escape the massacre of 337 which killed their father. Aged around 26, he was raised to be Caesar and co-emperor to Constantius II, who was facing down the revolt of Magnentius at the time. He was married to his cousin, Constantina, the sister of Constantius II, but was executed after he was implicated in an attempted coup against Constantius and was replaced with his brother, Julian. |
