A pair of bellows crafted from goatskin and wood with metal nozzles. Collected in Tiga, this item was given as a gift to the University of Birmingham in 2010 by Pete Tunley.
This item was lent to the University of Birmingham by Pete Tunley in 1978. It forms part of a collection that was gathered between 1971 and 1973 whilst Tunley was working as a VSO maths teacher in Rano village, northern Nigeria. In his free time he began to explore the local area, talking to local craftsmen and investigating different cultural methods and traditions including metalworking, leatherworking and cotton weaving.
