Description:  Obverse: Facing bust of Justinian, wearing cuirass and plumed helmet with pendilia, in r. hand globus cruciger, on l. shoulder shield with horseman device, cross in r. of field. Reverse: Cross above, star to r. in exergue.

Inscriptions:  Obverse: DN IVSTIN ANVS PP AV (Our lord Justinian, emperor in perpetuity). Reverse: M (40). ANNO XXXIG (Year 37). Mint mark: THUP. Control mark: Γ(3).
