Description:  Obverse: Head of Diocletian, wearing radiate crown and beard, cuirassed, facing r. Reverse: Jupiter, naked but cloaked, walking l. but head facing r., holding thunderbolt in r. and eagle in l.

Inscriptions:  Obverse: DIOCLETIHNVS P F ΠVC (Diocletian Pius Felix Augustus). Reverse: IOVI PR-OPV-GNHT (Jupiter, the Defender). In Exergue: XXIT

Bibliography:  RIC V 237 var.

Notes:  Silvered. According to RIC, the XXIT in the exergue of the reverse are mintmarks indicating Ticinum. As opposed to the RIC type, the reverse legend differs (it does not include IMP at the beginning) and Jupiter holds an eagle in l. (it is not on the ground).
