Handwritten letter from T.H. Russell to Professor Hillhouse. Russell says that he now has a fund sufficient for the purchase of E.C. Horrell's collection of mosses. He gives a list of the names of the ladies and gentlemen who have contributed towards the fund (sixteen in total, including Mr. Neville Chamberlain, George Hamilton Kenrick, Mrs Nettlefold and T.H. Russell himself). Now asks for Hillhouse's acceptance of the collection as an addition to the botanical department of the university. "The collection comprises almost every recorded species, and many varities and forms", "a complete set of British plants" and plants from Italy, France, Germany, and smaller collection of non-European species from New Zealand, Australia, North and South America, India etc. In addition there are about a thousand slides.
