Description: Obverse: Three borders of pellets around inscription, ornamented by eight globes, pellet cross above and beneath. Reverse: Four crosses surrounding circular portrait of bust of John facing, with beard, wearing loros and crown with pendilia. Letters I and Ѡ to l. and letters A and N to r. of bust. Three borders of pellets, ornamented by eight globes.
Inscriptions: Obverse: + IѠAhhI' Єh X'Ѡ AVTO/CRAT, ЄVSЄb bASILЄVS RѠMAIѠ' (John, in Christ pious emperor of the Romans). Reverse: + InSЧS XRI STUS nICA * (Jesus Christ conquers).
