This wooden mask has been made in a Senufo style and represents a face with a hornbill crest. One of the horns in the bottom right hand corner has been broken off. The hornbill is a very important symbol in Senufo ritual masquerades as it represents fertility. This mask however has been made for sale to Europeans and was collected in Sierra Lione in 1966. It was lent to the Danford Collection by J.Danford in 1969 and purchased in 1975.
