Bucchero-style jug of pale pinkish-red clay, heavily encrusted. An ovoid body with a flat base and a carinated shoulder join. No painted decoration or glaze. Moulded ribbing to the main body. This was possibly a test piece as it is clearly unfinished. The neck slopes back by around 15°, which suggests that this was a ‘second’ and not saleable. Colour: 5YR 6/6 (reddish yellow), 5YR 6/3 (light reddish brown), 7.5 YR 6/4 (light brown). Complete and in good condition, with some reconstruction at the rim.
